DPF DELETE AS AN OPTION IN REMAPPING
The exhaust emissions standards for new cars have effectively required fitment of a DPF in the exhaust of diesel cars since 2009 in certain countries when the 'Euro 5' standard came into force and ‘Euro 6’ it became compulsory.
Standards aim to deliver an 80% reduction in diesel particulate (soot) emissions but as owners are finding out with large costs, the technology is not without its problems for short journey cars, which there was an exemption initially for new car buyers but no longer. Also, regeneration causes excess soot when performed, new diesel cars are looking to be phased out of production in 2024 in many countries or by manufacturers with focus aimed at Hybrid or totally electric cars.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
The DPF looks like a catalyst converter but is mounted close to the engine. Inside it is a complex honeycomb ceramic structure designed to clean exhaust gases while minimising flow reduction (which would otherwise limit performance but inherently will). By forcing the exhaust gases through the walls between the channels of the DPF, the particulate matter is deposited on the honeycomb structure, so reducing the amount of air pollution. Once the DPF reaches a certain level of ‘Saturation’ it performs a regeneration cycle to burn off the particulate matter inside the filter.

After DPF removal it is possible to use biofuels as they can no longer cause issue to the DPF filter.
COMMON CAUSES FOR DPF FAILURE
There are several reasons a DPF can fail, the most common are shown below:
High mileage and compacted with fine soot
Failed sensors preventing DPF regeneration
Lack of additive in fuel (where fitted) causing incomplete burn off
Engine issues i.e. leaking injector, valve stem oil seals, worn piston rings, turbo thrust bearing failure causing excess oil leaked into the exhaust tract
DPF unable to regenerate due to driving conditions e.g. urban driving only
Badly written performance tuning
Driving in too low a gear on a motorway not allowing the regeneration to start.
IS DPF REMOVAL LEGAL?
Please note that we only offer DPF solutions for Off-Road Usage only or in countries where it is not mandatory.
Whilst it is illegal to drive without a DPF where one was fitted from new, it is not illegal to offer removal as a service, and as such we offer this to all customers without prejudice.

REGARDING DPF REMOVAL
DPF’s have multiple sensors which aid its operation. These include temperatures sensors and differential pressure sensors. All of these sensors may need be working in order to have the DPF removed
If a car is in limp mode and the DPF is compacted requiring replacement, simple removal may not always cure the problem. The DPF failing is often a symptom of another fault, not the cause of the issue. For instance, a car may require a DPF replacement due to compaction, but the cause may be leaking injectors which have caused the DPF to fail. Similarly the management light may be on and in limp mode, the DPF may be saturated requiring replacement yet after removal the car may still be in limp mode and management light in with the common cause being a faulty differential pressure sensor and the reason the DPF failed. DPF removal is a great facility and can save you thousands but sometimes there are additional parts that require replacement which only become highlighted after the DPF has been removed.
